The Last Gambit by Om Swami

Book+Chess

Hello Booklovers! Today's review is for two communities. 1.Booklovers , 2.Chesslovers 😍. Chesslovers will definitely get a hint from the title itself and from the cover of the book too. The story is mainly revolving around: a master, a boy and this lovely game of chess. It is very inspiring and very emotional throughout. It is very enjoyable and runs at quite normal pace with not many efforts to make you suspicious. The only suspense here is about the master's past. I would like to quote a few words by the master in this book: "Success by design is infinitely better than a win by chance." Perfect, isn't it? Let me give little more detail about what's in this book and yeah I won't spoil the only secret in this book.

In this book, we see a little boy's (Vasu's) journey about how he grows in his life and in the game of chess. We not only experience the difficulties faced by Vasu in chess but Om Swami has also beautifully portrayed the life of Vasu from a teen boy to a mature adult who faces what every common boy in his life does while growing up. Parents, friends, siblings, girlfriend, school, pranks, teachers etc are equally emphasized while we see him grow up in an adult man. His experiences and struggles are summed up realistically in this book. There is a lot in this fiction novel for chesslovers. There are times when they would literally follow the moves of the game played with chessboards in their heads and many times they would learn something which might improve them as a chessplayer and as a person.

Overall, the whole book is a great read about Vasu's journey and his struggles in his own life as well as in his dream of becoming a CHESS CHAMPION! The book is very hideous about the past and the identity of the master until the very end. Beautiful and very ideal relationship between Master & Student. Amazing Book!!

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

Most Favorite of Agatha Christie

Hello Booklovers! Well, I missed 2 blog dates and I'm again really really sorry for committing such a heinous crime. It was because of a very busy and tiring schedule in the past few days. Moving on, I'm back with one of my most favorites by Agatha Christie, a great suspense, crime-thriller novel which is guaranteed to hold you in the story till the end. I bet all of you that all your predictions will be wrong in this extraordinary piece of work by Agatha Christie. I would obviously keep this review spoiler-free but will give a small interesting hint to make you all more curious.

Talking about the characters, there are plenty of them and each gets a fair amount of role and importance in the story. It's a bit difficult to remember each at the start but slowly we get a grasp on the facts and names in the story. While reading this, you really become a part of the actual scenario and also many a times feel the emotions of some characters. The story is good, every character fits nicely and a perfect end is given to this masterpiece. A little hint: All the deaths in this story follow an old nursery rhyme. Everyone is a criminal in one way or other (not a spoiler). The truth is even bigger than you can imagine. I would suggest everyone to read it with full concentration and just enjoy each and every moment you spend while reading this book. There aren't any detectives or Miss Marple to solve the case. This book became the world's bestselling mystery only on the basis of the story, it's content, it's character development and the ending too.

This is definitely worthy of your money and a must read for everyone. Even people not into this category should read this book. One word for such story: QUICKSAND. It's my personal recommendation that at least read once and you will definitely love it. It feels great to be back here reviewing and talking about books, it's all so lovely.😍 Do comment your views on my blog and tell me what's your favorite Agatha Christie novel.

Connect The Dots by Rashmi Bansal

 Inspirational Lifestories

Hello Booklovers! I hope you all like my review posts about a variety of books. Today I'm back with a motivational/inspirational self-help book which is a showcase of various personalities who started their business from zero and are very successful at present. They became successful because of their Jugaad, Junoon & Zubaan!πŸ’ͺ  It is not that we also have to exactly follow what these people did but the thing one should take from this book is, "Always hold on to your dreams, learn from failures, never give-up and always keep innovating." Well this is just a short summary of what one can learn from these stories in this book. And yeah it is obviously a spoiler-free review.

The author very well provides a detailed picture of the ups and downs of the individuals while building up their business and achieving their dreams. It is not an easy task, holding on to your dreams and working to fulfill your wishes. The author has carefully picked up the life stories of people to show us that any person can achieve whatever he/she wishes for with hard-work and strong determination! The content is put up perfectly in a way covering all the aspects of one's life like starting from nothing, facing difficulties and ending up being very successful in whatever you do. There is a strong point in this book which is a short summary named "Advice to Young Entrepreneurs" just after every story. Overall it is a book containing the inspiring stories of 20 entrepreneurs without an MBA who started their own ventures. I would not recommend it to everyone but only to those people who are interested in some inspiring lifestories of people or even to them who like reading some non-fiction. Comment down below if you like reading about success stories of people and what are your views about hard-work and holding on to your dreams.

Three Men in A Boat by Jerome K. Jerome

Humorous Travel Account

Hello Booklovers! I'm back after 20 days and I'm really sorry for not posting on 31st January 2019. But let me tell you, 31st January was a very busy and a very special day for me. I went to the convocation of my University and was awarded a Gold Medal for being the topper in my Branch!! So coming back to today's topic, I'm bringing you a very old book which was originally published in 1889. This is a fiction novel which doesn't seem so fictitious. It absolutely matches with the reality. The book is a humorous one and based on a boating holiday on the Thames river in the United Kingdom. This indeed is a spoiler-free review.

Well, the book will take you on a tour on the river Thames which surely is enjoyable. A huge speciality of this fiction travel account is that 3 characters out of the 4 main are real life characters. One is the author himself while the other 2 are his real life friends and the 4th is a fictional dog named Montmorency. The whole story seems very joyful and lighthearted throughout, with some witty humor which doesn't seem outdated even as of now. Other then that, you will also get a virtual tour on the River Thames, where the author describe accounts of local history along the journey. This book overall seems the one which you can enjoy along without any force or burden of guessing what will happen next. But it's upto your own interests whether you will like it or not. Some will be amused by the detailing and the touch of reality the author has added to make this fiction story a real one. While, some may also find this travel account of a boating holiday a boring one. So, it's up to you whether to read it or not. I enjoyed it from start to the end & it was joyful too. Do comment down below if you like such humorous stories and whether you read such travel accounts or not. To summarize the review I would say that it's not a "Must Read" one but truly is witty and enjoyable.

The MONK Who Sold His FERRARI by Robin Sharma

Awesome Self-Help Book

Hello Booklovers! I'm back with another book review where today I'll be reviewing a book which made Robin Sharma a very famous and successful author and i.e. The Monk who sold his Ferrari. Robin Sharma is a great author and specializes in self-help and motivational books. This review will obviously be spoiler-free as non-fiction books have nothing to spoil about. It depicts simplistic pathways towards a better life for you and for people around you through a fable.

"You will never be able to hit a target that you cannot see. People spend their whole lives dreaming of becoming happier, living with more vitality and having an abundance of passion. Yet they do not see the importance of taking even ten minutes a month to write out their goals and to think deeply about the meaning of their lives, their Dharma. Goal-setting will make your life magnificent. Your world will become richer, more delightful and more magical."

The fable slowly takes you deep inside a valley of knowledge which is very positive and effective too. This book mainly aims towards improving your daily life through simplest methods which aren't only confined to pages but are practically applicable in real life. It clearly states ways to improve self-leadership, kindling your inner burning fire, knowing your true purpose in life and fulfilling your dreams. The action summaries at the end of each chapter is really very accurate and useful. I haven't tried any of them practically but I really feel those ways will help each and everyone of you if you adapt it in your life and make it your routine. One should slowly read this book and absorb each word out of it. I would recommend it to everyone as it is not just a book which you read once and never look at it again, it is really worth your time and money and deserves to be reread whenever you're lost in your life. Do you feel you can't find a purpose in life or always seem to be unsatisfied about your own abilities? Do comment down freely and remember never lose HOPE!

The Hound of The Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle

 The Famous Sherlock Holmes Case

Hello Booklovers! Today in 1st review post of this blog I'm bringing you a very famous & interesting book which is a perfect crime-thriller novel. It is one of the very unpredictable cases of Sherlock Holmes. It fulfills your expectations which you normally have from a crime thriller novel. This will be a spoiler-free review so without any hesitations carry on to the rest of the post.

The book begins with an introduction (indirect intro) of the character of Sherlock Holmes and his friend Dr.Watson. This little introduction is unique & makes one curious about what these two men might do in the following chapters. The story builds up slowly and is narrated in such a way that you feel you are a part of it. The character development is also absolutely fine with each character getting a necessary amount of time as per it's role in the story. There are no things or incidents which you might feel unnecessary. Arthur Conan Doyle is a master at giving life to his fiction stories as well as fictional characters. They feel way too realistic to be counted as a fiction. It is difficult to put down once you are halfway through it. The ending seems satisfactory leaving a smile on your face (the kind of you have when you are satisfied with end of a book) and you'll want more of Sherlock Holmes. Do comment your views and whether you've read anything of Sherlock Holmes or not.

I would highly recommend it to suspense lovers and also to people who are not into this genre. Just give it a shot and I highly doubt that you will dislike this one. It is definitely worthy of your time.  Lastly, all I would say is: "The Hound Of The Baskervilles" is a very 😈evil novel😁 which slowly plunges you into the Universal Curiosity of WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT??

What is "VARDHAN REVIEWS" about?

Hello to the world of Booklovers out there. I am Vardhan Shah, a bibliophile (someone who loves and collects books) as people phrase it. It's not that I just love books, but I love everything about them. I love reading books, love talking about them, love how they smell (most of the timeπŸ˜‚), love to collect them and just even a mere sight of books fills me with joy. That feeling is difficult to express here in words. Many of you can feel such joy, so I guess you understand that feeling!

Let me now introduce myself as a reader and as a passionate books lover. I read a variety of genres of which my favorites are: Thriller, Horror, Suspense, Crime etc. But I also read other genres and I read Non-Fiction too. I basically purchase books from online platforms such as Flipkart & Amazon and I also buy them from offline bookstores such as Crossword & Bargain Book Hut. Buying from online platforms is many times more economic, but just a visit to a bookstore fills you with happiness and an innocent joyfulness which is priceless. Sometimes I also get books from library, which is less preferable for me because besides reading I love to fill my bookshelf too. I would definitely love to know your favourite genre and your way of getting a book, so leave that in the comments section below.

Now lets talk more about what kind of posts you will see in this blog! Of course you get an idea from the name itself, but let me clear it out for you. This blog will feature posts about various reviews of books I've read and books I'll read in the upcoming days. The reviews won't be influenced by anything and will not be inspired from any person or article. They will entirely be my personal views and opinions about the book. This blog will be purely dedicated to give you guys honest reviews of books which I hope you will find helpful especially before buying the book. The reviews might contain spoilers or can even be spoiler free. Every 10 days I'll post a book review, feel free to express your views in the comments section.

As of now this is the only blog by me and also my first one. I am planning to create more blogs on various bookish things. Join me in this beautiful journey of books reviews. See you guys on 11 January 2019. Till then keep reading!πŸ“š
